FSW Baseball: A Journey to the Top
The Florida SouthWestern (FSW) baseball team is on the brink of another historic season, ready to make waves in the 2026 campaign. Last year, the Buccaneers made history by reaching the JUCO World Series for the first time, and now they're gearing up for an even bigger adventure. But here's where it gets exciting: they're set to begin their new season at a Major League ballpark, a first for junior college regular season games.
The Bucs will make their grand entrance at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, the home of the Texas Rangers. This is no ordinary debut; it's a groundbreaking moment in the history of junior college baseball. As FSW head coach Zac Cole puts it, "These are going to be the first junior college regular season games played in a Major League stadium."
Nicholas Lorenz, a pitcher on the FSW team, couldn't contain his enthusiasm for this unique opportunity. "Playing at this level, you don't get to play many cool parks. But being able to start the season at the Rangers stadium is going to be an awesome experience."
This isn't just about the thrill of playing in a Major League stadium; it's about the impact it can have on the team's morale and performance. As Cole explains, "This is a great way to start the season. An unbelievable experience for our guys and just something we couldn't pass up."
FSW catcher Evan Tavares shared his pride in showcasing their talent on such a grand stage. "It's a great opportunity for us to show what us Florida guys can do."
The FSW team is coming off a historic 2025 season, where they won the FCSAA Championship and secured their first trip to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction. As Cole reflects, "Once you get over that hump, now I think at least internally there's the feeling hey this is what we're trying to do. It's not just pie in the sky anymore. We're excited and I think this group is embracing they want to make it back out there."
The Bucs are focused on replicating their success from last season. "It's important to keep your eyes on the prize and know that we can do it. And the guys that are returning know what it's like to play that kind of baseball," Lorenz said.
Cole is confident in his team's abilities. "I think this is the most talented group I've ever had."
FSW will open their season on January 25 against Lake Land College. But here's the question: Can they build on last season's success and make a run at another championship? Stay tuned, and let us know what you think in the comments. Do you think FSW can make it back to the JUCO World Series, or is this a one-and-done season? The debate is on!
